Buddy was born September 21, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio, to George Anthony Broz and Patricia Moffitt Broz.
Buddy was a husband, father, brother, and friend who dedicated much of his life to caring for others through his career as a Fire Captain and Paramedic with Tampa Fire Rescue. He had a huge heart and always looked out for the welfare of others. After retiring from Tampa Fire Rescue, Buddy continued working with others as a substitute teacher in the Dublin and Hilliard school districts in Ohio.
He leaves behind his wife, Jodi; his son, Andrew Broz, and daughter, Marianna Gisoldi, both of Tampa, Florida; his mother, Patricia Moffitt Broz; and his sister, Ann-Marie Trickey of Pace, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, George Anthony Broz, and his brother, Peter Broz.
Before illness limited his activities, Buddy enjoyed hiking and camping in the mountains, where he found peace and quiet in nature. He loved to travel and enjoyed discovering new places and making memories along the way. He also enjoyed golfing, bike riding, college football, and socializing with friends and neighbors. A graduate of the University of Florida, Buddy was an equipment manager for the Gators football team during his college years. He especially loved his Weimaraner, Willow, who was a special part of his life.
After a courageous battle with ALS, Buddy passed away peacefully at home, as he wished. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no viewing. His ashes will be spread at a small, private family gathering.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center ALS Clinic https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/ways-to-give/supporting-als-research in Buddy’s memory.
