Gregory Guy Vradenburg, 73, of Powell, Ohio, passed away on August 27, 2025. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 31, 1952, to Lyle and Lucille Vradenburg, Greg grew up with a joy for life that never dimmed. He graduated from West High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Franklin University. Greg built a successful career as a partner in Brinker Capital, a money management firm, but it was the people he met along the way that mattered most to him.
Greg poured his energy and generosity into his community. He was an instrumental member of the Dublin Methodist Hospital Development Board, where his passion and philanthropic contributions helped bring the Dublin Cancer Center to life. Seeing it open in 2021 was one of his proudest moments, a reflection of his drive to make a lasting difference for others.
Faith and family were at the center of his world. Greg was deeply spiritual, rooted in Vista Community Church, and nothing made him happier than gathering his wife, children, and grandchildren close. He believed life was meant to be shared – around a table, on a walk, or with anyone lucky enough to be his friend.
A man with boundless enthusiasm, Greg loved to stay active. He traveled widely, ran marathons, and competed in triathlons – always most at home on the bike. He thrived on friendly competition, especially on the pickleball courts where, twice a week, he battled it out with his buddies in games that were among the highlights of his week. He brought that same passion to cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, especially on football Saturdays. Yet Greg also found deep happiness in life’s quieter rhythms – outdoors on his boat in Naples, soaking in the beauty of nature, or simply enjoying daily dog walks with the love of his life, his wife Patty, by his side. Even mowing the lawn was a signature activity, with Greg insisting on perfectly straight lines every single time. If you knew Greg, you knew that grass didn’t dare grow crooked under his watch.
To know Greg was to be welcomed by his smile, his humor, his wisdom, and above all, his immense heart. He had the rare gift of making everyone feel like family. Larger than life, endlessly positive, and always quick with a laugh, Greg touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of joy, love, and generosity.
Greg’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 38 years, Patty Vradenburg; his children, Ali (Alex) Weaver and Josh (Megan) Vradenburg; his grandchildren, Peyton and Gabriella Vradenburg; his brother, Lyle Vradenburg; and his sisters-in-law, Connie Vradenburg and Vida Vradenburg, niece and nephew Jody and John. Greg is also survived by his in-laws Debbie Kelsik, Jim Thompson, Sam and Jessica Chickerella, Mike and Connie Storer, Sue Baker, Bill Thompson, Carol Thompson and Matt Thompson, countless nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Bandit and Charlie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Lucille, and his brother, Gary.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 3:00–6:00 p.m., with a service immediately following at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. All who knew and loved Greg are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cancer Association.
