Jayne L. Jago of Dublin, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2025. Jayne was born to Clement “Doc” and Edna Bedilion in Marietta, Ohio. Along with her younger brother and sister, her parents taught them, by their own examples, hard work, honesty, tenacity, love and loyalty. After graduation from high school and a year of college, Jayne worked in the Audit Division of the Internal Revenue Service in Parkersburg, W. Va. for two years.
She married Fred Lev in 1951 and, when he transferred from Ohio University to The Ohio State University, they moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she continued her employment with the IRS. She later was employed as the Personal Manager for North American Aviation.
Fred and Jayne had two children, Jeffrey and Julie. Fred was employed by The Ohio State University and later by Foundry Services. When Foundry Services moved the company to Brook Park, Ohio, Fred and Jayne moved with them. After Fred’s death in 1960, Jayne and the children returned to Columbus to the house they still owned on West Woodruff where Jayne was able to rent rooms to college students. She met many wonderful young people and their parents with many longtime friendships. When the University bought their house, Jayne moved the family to Clintonville. Keeping Jeff and Julie healthy, safe and well was her priority throughout their school years. Both Jeff and Julie attended Clinton Elementary, Crestview Junior High and North High Schools. Both now have their degrees and are married with families.
While living in Clintonville, Jayne was employed as the part-time secretary for the engineering firm of Fling & Eeman with five employees. The company grew to become R. S. Fling & Partners with 125 or more employees and Jayne became full-time with added responsibilities. She truly enjoyed the 16 years and the associates she met while working there.
In 1979, Jayne married Edward “Ted” Jago and moved to his home in Northwest Ohio. She and Ted had many wonderful years together, and she was able to join him in some of his travels he incurred with his work. While living in Northwest Ohio, Jayne volunteered with the Laubach System of teaching adults to read and write (both in the Toledo area and at the College of DuPage when Ted was temporarily transferred to the Western Chicago area). She also volunteered in the Medical Staff office at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio, and later another five years of helping in the fundraising office of the Arthritis Foundation in Toledo.
After Ted’s retirement, Ted and Jayne moved to Dublin, Ohio, to be closer to Jayne’s children and their families. They had the privilege of watching their grandchildren grow up and be part of their lives. While living in Dublin, Ted and Jayne resumed their volunteering by helping at John J. Gerlach Center, a part of Riverside Hospital. Ted helped in the Day Care Center and Jayne helped administer the AdvantAge program and totaled more than 7,000 hours before retiring in 2019. The wonderful friendships she found at Gerlach became life-long.
Jayne was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Lev; her parents, Clement and Edna Bedilion; her brother, William Bedilion; her sister, Louise Atkisson; her stepdaughter, Susan Sherry; and her stepson, Ian (David) Jago.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Jago, her son Jeff (Paula) Lev, her daughter Julie (William) Evans, five grandchildren, Ondrea, Michael, Katie, Stacie and Laurie, two step-granddaughters, Jennifer and Melissa, four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
At Jayne’s request, there will be cremation with no viewing or visitation. A celebration of Jayne’s life will be planned by the family for a future date. For those who would like to honor Jayne’s memory, a donation to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, 3960 Brookham Drive, Grove City, Ohio 43123 would bring a smile to her face.
Cremation has been entrusted to Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
