Jeffrey Scott Begun, age 68, son of the late Sanford and Leslie Begun, passed away peacefully at home in Dublin, Ohio on May 7, 2026. Beloved husband, partner, and life-long friend to Wendy Delnostro, most loving father to Stephanie Hartmann (husband Nicholas); adored "Papa" to the lights of his life, grandchildren, Lola (9) and Luke (5); dear brother to Randi Constable and Todd Begun, (wife Janet); Special uncle to many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, whose lives Jeff touched with his humor and caring.
Born on March 15, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio, Jeff became the little brother to Randi and would become big brother to Todd, sharing family interests, large family gatherings with extended family, and more than a few memorable antics, along the way, either on the baseball field on family teams or on boat outings shared by many.
An avid sports enthusiast from a young age, Jeff became quite the catcher in little league and continued playing ball well into adulthood. He also played high school football, and enjoyed watching basketball as well. Later in life, Jeff would become the relied upon sports statistics (stats) guy, holding knowledge of countless players, teams, and their records. Jeff was also a life-long fan of bowling, in which he excelled, with a style and mastery matched by few. Playing golf became a favorite pastime, providing Jeff the opportunity to show off his improving skills and his penchant for bold and jazzy golf outfits, adding flare to his game!
Jeff also attended the Ohio State University, joining Wendy there. He worked hard to learn the ins and outs of the restaurant business, which would serve him well throughout his life, Having sold wine for many years, Jeff became quite the expert in understanding the world of wine, with the ability to match just the right wine with any particular menu item...most of which he could cook, create, or improve himself!
A hard worker in any of his endeavors, Jeff set a standard of conscientious effort and enduring drive that he clearly passed on to his well accomplished daughter, who credits her father with instilling a strong work ethic in her own career. Mostly, Jeff had unbounded enthusiasm and energy that proved contagious to those around him, in either the work or play setting...never exhibited more than in his growing passion for playing poker, providing yet another fun and social setting, adding to his ever expanding group of friends and acquaintances.
Additionally, Jeff enjoyed music, mostly the old Standards, Motown classics, and Elvis, which he joyfully shared with his grandchildren...listening to Papa's music on a car ride became an event! Jeff even appreciated Wendy's rather basic piano playing skills, which made more special her desire to share her love for piano music with others.
Ultimately, Jeff touched those he encountered in all areas of his life. He treasured his family above all else, embracing in-laws (son, brother and sister, included) as his own family, welcoming all of them into his home and into his life. There are no words to express the intense love he felt for his daughter and unending affection for his grandchildren, Jeff will be missed immeasurably...but our hearts will hold his heart forever.
