She spoke French and Spanish, played the piano and was active in the sports of horse riding, tennis, cycling and snow skiing. She was a great lover of nature, walking on the beach, working in her garden and an avid birdwatcher.
Kay moved to Ohio in 1984 and adopted the Buckeye football team as her favorite. She was an avid sports fan, in particular college and professional football, tennis and golf. She was also active in helping the less fortunate by providing winter hats for the homeless, coaching Miracle League baseball and gathering neighborhood care boxes for deployed veterans. An animal-lover, she volunteered at Colony Cats (& dogs) in Columbus, a feline welfare program. Additionally, she volunteered at the Head Start Program for early-childhood development. She was a proficient seamstress and crafter who enjoyed making baby clothes and home decorations. She also had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
