Louis “Bob” Robert Gebhart

L. Robert (Bob) Gebhart, 82, passed away June 27, 2024. Predeceased by his parents Louis and Elizabeth (Bush) Gebhart, he is survived by his wife of 56 years Carol (Brenning), two sons, Mark (Heather) and Jonathan (Andrea) along with four granddaughters, Ashley, Adrianna, Audrey, and Emma. Also surviving are his in-laws Jon and Alice Sherman and Bill and Judi Brenning. There are a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins as well. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, especially since he was an only child.

Bob, born on April 9, 1942, grew up in Columbus, graduated from Linden McKinley High School, and the University of Arizona. He began his lifelong career with computers and technology, selling mainframe computers, moved on to data processing, helped develop some of the first emergency preparedness/disaster recovery plans, and worked in crisis management.

Bob and Carol belonged to Upper Arlington Lutheran Church for 55 years where he served in a variety of capacities. He especially enjoyed using his camera skills. He had a special talent for doing that. He was ever present for Tetelestai and Vacation Bible School, taking candids of everyone he could.

In 2015, Bob was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He worked hard to try to extend his life past the prediction of 2 to 3½ years. He made it to 8 years and 8 months. Now he is whole again.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who have supported us on this journey. In fear of forgetting some, we will just say “thank you” for being the hands and feet for Our Lord while Bob was here on earth.

The service for Bob is Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at UALC: The Church At Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. A reception will immediately follow the service there. Refreshments and merriment will be enjoyed.
