Michael Webster Goett, son, brother, uncle, father, husband, and best friend. He was born at home on December 10, 1976, to Anthony and Patricia Goett. He passed away suddenly at home on January 20, 2024. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia, who passed on Mike’s birthday in 2021. Mike left behind his wife, Krista; three amazing kids, Joey, Taylor, and William; his siblings, Tony and Tracy (Jimmy); his first wife, who he has remained close friends with, Brandy; and his fur baby, Ginger. Mike is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and so many friends.
Mike spent the last 23 years working for the same, wonderful company – Contract Lumber South. He was a lover of all things Michigan Wolverines – Go Blue! Hail to the Victors! In addition to the Michigan Wolverines, he was also the number one Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed many years of playing softball and made so many friends who turned into family. The ballfields were where Mike and Krista fell in love. He once told her that falling in love with her was like hitting a homerun at every bat.
Mike welcomed Krista into his world with open arms. Mike helped raise her son, William, just like he was his own. Mike was so proud of Taylor for all of her accomplishments in volleyball and college, and most recently watching her climb the ladder in her new career. He just watched his son, Joey, make his first adult purchase – a new car! They’re still not sure who was happier that day. Mike was also so proud of William – watching him beat the odds through the most life changing situation. He got to see William rebuild his life and find his special person, Bailey. And Ginger, well, Mike joked all the time about loving their dog more than his wife. They were the best of friends. Mike broke all of mommy’s rules on day one with her – no puppy on the bed, no puppy on the furniture – and now there’s no place they would rather her be. Those were the best rules Mike ever broke.
Mike and Krista met on April 3, 2009, at Applebee’s. They got to love each other for 5,405 days. They were married on June 1, 2012. He gave Krista the world in the 4,250 days they were married. Then God called him home. For years he told Krista he was ready to go, tired of living in pain, but that she was the reason he kept fighting. Now she is the reason his memory and love will stay alive forevermore. Their forever on this earth was cut short, but their love will never fade. They will take their love to their graves, and they will meet again in Heaven on bright shores.
There are no words to describe the impact Mike had on every life he touched. And there are no words to describe the pain, emptiness, and loneliness that his passing has left behind. But even through all of that, he leaves behind so many great memories that will forever bring joy, smiles and warmth. We may not be able to see him or hug him back, but he will forever be with us and have his arms around us.
Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, where a visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will he held for Mike on Saturday, February 3, 2024. at 11:30 a.m. at Schoedinger Dublin followed by interment at Sunset Cemetery with a Celebration of Life lunch to follow.
Until we meet again, my love…may you finally rest in peace with no more pain. And please always watch over me, our kids, and the rest of our very big, beautiful family.
