The world lost a rare and brilliant light on May 12th at 9:58 p.m., when Nolan Carlton, age 10, completed his five year journey with Medulloblastoma Sonic Hedgehog and Li Fraumeni Syndrome. Though his time was short, Nolan lived with the heart and humor of someone who had already seen a lifetime’s worth of beauty.
Nolan was an old man in a young body — a philosopher, a comedian, a gamer, a friend, and a fierce lover of his family. He adored his mom and dad, Jill and Jeremiah, and he cherished his big sister, Lillian Ruth, who was his hero and his best friend. He was unapologetically himself — wise, witty, supportive, and endlessly loving. His friends knew him as the boy who always listened, always encouraged, and always made them feel seen. His personality was enormous, impossible to contain, and unforgettable to anyone lucky enough to meet him.
Even in the hardest moments, Nolan found ways to support others. He believed deeply in science, in research, and in the hope that no child should have to fight the battle he fought.
Nolan believed fiercely in helping others. In keeping with his wishes, his brain has been donated to scientific research in hopes of saving hundreds of other children. He was a proud supporter of advancing cancer research and finding a cure, and he carried that mission with him every day.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jeremiah and Jill, and his devoted sister, Lillian Ruth, who will forever carry his light forward.
In the spirit of Nolan’s mission and his enormous heart, the family strongly requests donations to his Pelotonia Kids Ride in lieu of flowers. https://charity.pledgeit.org/f/h9ys4uu8bt
