Patrick J. Clark

Patrick James Clark (Pat), passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 19, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. His passing followed a courageous battle with cancer, for which he received treatment at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital.

Pat was born on March 16, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mary Ann (Molly) Clark and Patrick James Clark, Sr. While he was born in Chicago, Marietta, Ohio, was always the place he proudly called his hometown. He attended The Ohio State University, earning his bachelor’s degree from the Fisher College of Business while working his way through school at Muirfield Village Golf Club. He later earned his MBA from the University of Michigan – a degree that never once dented his devotion to Ohio State football. Pat was known for recounting stories from his childhood in Marietta and his extended undergraduate experience in a way only he could. Those stories will continue to be cherished forever.

Over a career spanning nearly three decades, Pat built an extraordinary legacy in the steel industry. Beginning his career in sales, he later rose to become Vice President of the North Region for Steel Technologies. He was dedicated to his work in a way that was most often demonstrated through his enthusiasm and competitive drive. Despite his technical expertise and professional success, Pat was equally known for investing in others and championing their growth. From his time at Muirfield to Steel Technologies, many colleagues became his closest friends.

His career took him to Grand Blanc, Michigan; Los Angeles, California; and Valparaiso, Indiana – but most importantly, to Davenport, Iowa, where he fell in love with his beautiful wife, Amber. The two were married on December 16, 2000, and together built a wonderful life while raising their two daughters, Grace and Emma.

Pat was known for his sharp intelligence, quick wit, and unmistakable sense of humor – smart, sarcastic, and effortlessly funny. He was passionate about golf, loved to ski, and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Buckeyes. Above all, he cherished his family and the friends he considered family. He devoted himself to providing his wife and daughters with an outstanding life and embodied hard work, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved.

Pat is survived by his wife, Amber Clark; his daughters, Grace and Emma Clark; his brother, Casey Clark; his sister, Maggie Clark, and her wife, Donna Jenkins; his mother-in-law, Wendy Steele; his father-in-law, Marc Gilliam; seven brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann Clark and Patrick Clark, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Angela Steele; and his father-in-law, Thomas Steele.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Dublin, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, at the same location. Following the funeral, please join the family from 1:00-3:00 p.m. for a celebration of Pat’s life at Napa Kitchen Dublin, 7148 Muirfield Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017.

Pat’s daughters, Grace and Emma, will ride in the annual 66-mile Pelotonia charity bike ride benefiting The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital the weekend preceding the funeral.
