Bob was born on July 24, 1940, to Albert and Ladonna Werth in Clyde, Ohio. He worked on his family fruit farm where he learned the value of hard work. He attended Clyde High School where he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. He graduated high school in 1958 and enrolled at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1962 summa cum laude.
Bob earned a law degree from the now Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University in 1965. During law school, he met the love of his life, Gloria Walton, who worked in the law library. They married in August 1965 soon after earning his law degree.
He started working with Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease as an associate in 1966 and remained with the firm for more than 40 years before retiring. Bob was the firm’s fourth managing partner from 1994 to 2006. Throughout his career, Bob served the Central Ohio community through various professional associations including the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Columbus Law Library Association, The Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Mid-Ohio Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Ohio Business Roundtable, The Columbus Technology Council and The Lawyers Club of Columbus.
In his free time, he coached both his son’s baseball and basketball teams. In addition to coaching, Bob was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan rarely missing home football or basketball games. Bob and Gloria enjoyed annual family vacations on Hilton Head Island playing golf and enjoying seafood dining with their children and grandchildren. In retirement, he spent his time watching his grandchildren play golf, baseball and softball.
Bob is survived by his devoted and loving wife Gloria (nee Walton); sons William (Angela) and Robert (Kimberly); grandchildren Alex, Nathan and Elizabeth; nieces and a host of family friends.
Visitation will take place 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Schoedinger in Dublin, Ohio. A private funeral service will be held later. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Assisting Hands and Luminary Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in Bob’s memory.
