Dr. Surinder Sehgal

Dr. Surinder K. Sehgal passed away peacefully on February 26,2024 at 9:44 a.m. in his sleep surrounded by his family at his residence in Powell, Ohio. He was born on April 22, 1938, to Chajju Ram Sehgal and Satya Wati Jagota in Punjab, India. Surinder was small in stature and reserved in his disposition, but large in heart, kindness, generosity, and knowledge, and had an immense positive impact on so many people. He immigrated to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Mathematics at Notre Dame College, graduating in 1966. Surinder was a talented Mathematician with a specialty in Group Theory. He went on to become a highly regarded tenured Professor of Mathematics at The Ohio State University, publishing over 40 research publications. He was an avid fan of OSU football and basketball, never missing an opportunity to watch and rewatch games with friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife Aruna Sehgal, two children: Sanjay Sehgal (Rita) and Renu Karumsi (Dipan), and four grandchildren: Meera, Dylan, Aanika and Aanav.

Visitation and funeral services will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
