Vincent “Chico” Perez

Born on December 9, 1940, at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Vincent was the son of Delphin and Gertrude “Sue” Camaquin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Feliza “Fifi” Glenn. He is survived by his brother, Jim Camaquin, and sister-in-law, Nancy.

On June 25, 1960, Vincent married the love of his life, Dolores “Dee” Perez. Together they built a beautiful marriage that spanned 66 years and created a legacy rooted in faith, love, loyalty, and family. Dee was the center of his world, and their devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Vincent was a proud graduate of Columbus East High School, Class of 1959, where he played football and served as class president. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and genuine care for others. He began his professional life with the Fred Pfening Company and completed his career at the Franklin County Child Support Enforcement Agency, retiring at the remarkable age of 78. He was deeply respected and loved by those who worked with him and for him.

Family was everything to Vincent. He was a devoted father to Tony Perez and his wife, Nickie; Mike Perez and his wife, Linda; and Debbie Foster and her husband, Joe. His greatest joy came from watching his family grow and thrive.

He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Luke Foster and his wife, Jessica; Christopher Perez and his wife, Marie; Ashley Trelka and her wife, Allison; Brooke Downing and her husband, Trevor; Morgan Foster and Lola Perez.

Vincent was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Connor, Kellen, Brennan, Waylon, Parker, and Cole. He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.

A man who never seemed to meet a stranger, Vincent had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome. He considered nearly everyone a friend and was, in turn, cherished by many. Whether he was hunting, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes or the New York Yankees, golfing, enjoying trips to the casino with family, dining out, vacationing, or indulging his famous sweet tooth with a bowl of ice cream, Vincent embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude.

His Catholic faith was at the center of his life. A member of St. Brendan the Navigator Church, he found great comfort in prayer and spent many hours with his beloved rosaries. His faith shaped the way he lived, loved, and served others.

Vincent’s greatest accomplishment was not found in his career or personal achievements, but in the family he built and nurtured. His legacy is secure in the lives of those he loved so dearly and who loved him in return. The lessons he taught through his kindness, generosity, integrity, and unwavering faith will continue for generations.

Though his family grieves his passing, they take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. They look forward to the joyful reunion that awaits in Heaven.

Family will receive friends at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Dr. Dublin, OH 43017 on Tuesday, July 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 4475 Dublin, Rd, Hilliard, OH 43026 on Wednesday, July 29 at 10 am, with interment to follow immediately after at New California Cemetery in Plain City, OH.
