William Jamieson Conley passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the lovely Kobacker House in Columbus Ohio. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Jean Ann Conley who he married on Halloween in 1970, his daughter Amy Elizabeth Conley and his son Christopher Ethan Conley. Bill was born August 24, 1946, in Connersville, Indiana. He graduated from Connersville High School in 1964 and attended Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana, where he studied Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. After graduating, Bill worked for Seagrams where he made lifelong friends – a true brotherhood, each one affectionately known to the other as “Leo.” In 1984, a new position with Drackett relocated Bill to Urbana, Ohio, and led to a membership at The Urbana Country Club. Lasting friendships were formed at UCC. Bill and Jean Ann were often found spending time with dear friends on club grounds. After retirement, Bill started collecting and restoring vintage Porsches and other German cars. He spent much of his retirement golfing and enjoying his car collection. As a resident of Dublin, Ohio, since 1988 and a member of The Country Club at Muirfield, Bill was the biggest supporter of his wife Jean Ann and daughter Amy’s real estate company. Bill loved visiting his son Christopher and daughter-in-law Bridey at their home in Missoula, Montana. Bill and Chris spent a great deal of time together working on their VW buses and finishing projects around the house. Bill was an avid woodworker, crafting many beautiful pieces over the years for his loved ones. Bill could do just about anything, often describing himself as a true Renaissance Man (he truly was).
In recent years, Bill received excellent care at the Dublin Davita Dialysis Center, and he cherished the friendships formed with staff and patients alike. He is survived by his wife Jean Ann, his daughter Amy, his son Christopher (Bridey), brother-in-law Geoff Creamer (Ramona Creamer), sister-in-law Janelyn Sebree (Stewart Sebree), sisters-in-law Jill Uphaus and Pam Creamer, four nieces, two nephews, three great-nieces and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by Joseph and Virginia (Micky) Conley, Patrick Conley, George and Phyllis Creamer, James Creamer and Ric Uphaus. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bill’s Garage (Clubhouse), 8555 Rausch Drive, Unit #208, Plain City, Ohio 43064. A dinner party will be hosted by Jean Ann, Amy, Christopher and Bridey. Please join us. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to The National Kidney Foundation and American Heart Association.
