Agnes was born in Duluth August 7, 1922 to Ingvald and Anna Siim. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1940 and attended DBU, where she met her husband Bernard “Bud” Blackmore. They were married in 1942. While Bud served overseas in the Navy Agnes worked as a secretary in Duluth.
She was a devoted mother of three children – Ann (Bill) of Mayne Island, BC, Douglas of Duluth, and Robert (Barbara) of Cochrane, AB. She is survived by them and two beloved granddaughters: Brooke (Daryl) of Calgary, AB, and Sydoney, as well as her step-grandchildren: Ron Davidson, Shawna Davidson, and Evan Williams. Her longtime home on Jay Street in Lakeside was where she spent time with her family and many friends.
Agnes worked as a secretary for Teamsters Local 346 for many years while she raised her children. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, and was an excellent seamstress. An admirer of the natural world, she found great joy and special moments at her family lake cabin near Grand Rapids, MN.
In 2009, Bud died after 67 years of marriage. Agnes was buried next to her husband in Park Hill Cemetery on December 30, 2016. Her two older brothers, Lesley and Melvin also predeceased her.
Many thanks to hospice care at St. Luke's, Solvay Hospice House, and to others who cared for her in her last days. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Visitation: 10:30 am, 11:00 am memorial service, Friday, January 13, 2016 at Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home, 925 E 4th Street, Duluth. Please leave a memory of Agnes or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersjarvidowd.com
