Angalos “Ange” Thomas Pavlatos, 97, entered into eternal peace on Jan. 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family in Roseville, Calif. Ange was born on July 19, 1915. Age was just a number to him and he lived life to its fullest!
He was a lifelong resident of Duluth until 2003 when he moved to the warmth of California to spend the remainder of his years with his daughter, son-in-law and many family members. Ange made friends quickly in California, and became the president of the “Roaring 90’s Club.”
Ange served our country as a Corpsman in the Navy during World War II. He was an extremely proud veteran and man. Upon his return from service he managed the West Duluth News for 10 years before becoming self employed as a candy and tobacco salesman for 24 years. After retiring from full-time employment, his need to stay active and engaged led him to a part-time position at West End Ace Hardware.
There is no doubt Ange’s first love was his family and second was fishing and hunting. Forty years of fishing trips to Canada and many years of hunting are a pretty good indication this is true.
The American Legion was a very important part of Ange’s life. He was a past commander of Post 71 and enjoyed a lifetime membership. Ange spent many hours volunteering his time at the Legion and loved every minute of it.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years Hazel Pavlatos; son Dennis Pavlatos and daughter-in-law Anna Pavlatos (Tom).
He is survived by his brother George Pavlatos (93) of Duluth; son Thomas Pavlatos (Janis), Ocala, Fla.; daughter Debra Kreidler (Jack), Roseville, Calif.; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
PRIVATE FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE: will be held in Duluth. Please make donations in Ange’s memory to the American Heart Association or Vitas Hospice, 3841 North Freeway Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95834.
