

George was born in September of 1919 in Duluth to Thomas and Alta Pavlatos
In 1939 George graduated from Denfeld High School and soon joined the Army National Guard Reserve. He spent five years in the 125 Field Artillery in the European Theater of WWII being honorably discharged in 1946. He married Margaret Scanlon January 12, 1946 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Proctor, Minnesota where they lived for a short time. They moved to Duluth where George owned and operated the Warner’s Shoe Store for many years. He was very active in West Duluth, a member of American Legion Post #71, West Duluth Business Association, and a proud member of St. James Catholic Church for over 60 years. George was proud of his West Duluth heritage.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret; grandson Nicholas Pavlatos; and brother Angelos Pavlatos.
George is survived by daughters: Mary (Doug) Michog and Patrice (Neil) Busch both of Duluth, sons, Bob and Susan; Mark and Marie both of Duluth and Daniel and Valerie of Superior; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 am until the 11 am Funeral Service on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church, 721 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth with Father James Bissonett officiating. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Essentia Hospice for the wonderful care given to dad. They would also like to thank his extended family at Keystone Bluffs for their kindness and compassion over the past 4 1/2 years.
The family prefers memorials to St. James Catholic School.
