Helen South, age 67, went to be with Jesus on April 25, 2018 at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

She was born in California in 1950. Her family lived there 2 years then moved to Arkansas until 1954. Her mother, brother and sister then moved to Duluth to be with Grandmother. She first came to Duluth Gospel Tabernacle (DGT) in 1954. She was saved at 10 years of age and baptized at 12. After a year of college, Helen became a member of DGT. Helen married Kenneth South on July 31, 1971 in a big wedding at DGT. They moved to Dallas, TX. Their beloved son, Richard "Rick" was born in 1973.

Helen worked at a variety of jobs until she and Ken divorced in 1983. She and Rick moved back to Duluth in 1985 to take care of her great-aunt Minnie. Helen also cared for church members, family and friends. She worked for St. Mary's Home Care from 1990-1997. Her mother Amy died in 1995. Helen developed major health concerns and had to quit working. She prayed continually for people and situations. Helen loved ministering to friends and other people, telling them what Jesus had taught and had done for her throughout her life, until her death.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I didn't know Helen well, but I did share a very special experience with her last October, 2017. Togther, with others from church, we participated in an evangelism training on a Saturday morning. After the training, we went downtown to practice what we learned! We were all a little nervous. Helen, myself and another woman shared our faith with 2 people in downtown Duluth that day. It was a blessing to hear Helen testify to many miracles she had seen God do. She shared her faith so naturally, and I enjoyed her company. Another memory I have was when she stood in church and testified to God's healing touch on her body. Today she is experiencing ultimate healing! Praise God

Richard, Caroline, & Family,
We mourn and grieve with you as well as celebrate the life of a woman who fleshed out living a life of kindness, caring, concern and compassion for others. Her positive, upbeat personality encouraged and uplifted many along with her often
spoken, "I'm praying for you." Her testimony of her faith and trust in our savior, Jesus, was a shining example of Christian character to all who came in contact with her. We hurt and agonize with you, and rejoice with the hosts of heaven as Helen has entered her eternal no pain, no suffering home. Richard, we have so many fond thoughts and memories of you and you hold a very special place in our hearts.
Loving and praying for you,
Paul & Joanne Blomdahl
