Ivadell Elvira Johnson

Ivadell “Ivy” Elvira Johnson, 79, of Duluth passed away February 3, 2019 at Bayshore Nursing Home in Duluth. She was born on August 24, 1939 to Walfred and Elsie Johnson in Little Falls, MN.

Ivy’s family moved to Duluth in 1942 and she was seventh out of eight children. She attended Hermantown School.

Ivy worked at Jeno’s and St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth then moved to Burnsville where she worked numerous jobs, including working as a security guard. In 1995 she moved to Duluth to be close to family. Ivy was a longtime resident of St. Ann’s Residence in Duluth until moving to her home in Bayshore for the last 3 ½ years.

Ivy was a member of the American Legion and acted as the treasurer for many years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bayshore for their excellent care.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd and Dalbert; and sister, Lavina.

Ivy will be greatly missed by her siblings, Vernon Johnson of Esko, Ervin Johnson of Beaver Bay, Kenneth (Margaret) Johnson of Hermantown, and Marvin (Martha) Johnson of Saginaw; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N 56th Ave. West, Duluth. The visitation will continue from 2:00 until the 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service Saturday February 9, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown. I went to Hermantown school with Ivy. She was always pleasant. Last time I saw her was at a class reunion where we sat and talked at our table. Happy to have known her.
