She was born on March 28th, 1952 to Lester and Evelyn (Lanquist) Paulsen in Virginia, Minnesota.
Linda attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Duluth and worked at Miller-Dwan Medical Center for many years. She also served as the Parish Nurse at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. In 1995 she proudly graduated from UMD with a degree in technical writing.
Linda loved dancing, skiing, ice cream, and her cats. She traveled extensively in the United States and throughout the world including Colombia, Guatemala, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Peru, and Wales. Following her passion for Duluth’s history and its old homes, Linda opened Immigrant House Bed and Breakfast in 2001. She found beauty in everyday life.
Over many years Linda received excellent care from Lutheran Social Services, Helping Hands Touching Hearts, September House, and Franciscan Health Center. The staff at each took time to appreciate Linda's unique personality, which comforted her family.
A memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Thursday, August 4th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Duluth. The visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in her memory to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.
Linda had a love of words and in particular of e.e. cummings. She had the following excerpt framed in her home:
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
-e.e. cummings
[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]
