Lois Elaine Olson

Lois attended elementary school in Houston, MN and Brainerd, MN. Following graduation from Marshall High School in Minneapolis; she attended Mounds-Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN and graduated in 1947.

Lois married Donald Olson in August of 1949 and together they raised three daughters.

Lois worked in St. Paul at Midway Hospital and in Duluth at St. Mary’s, St. Luke’s and Miller Dwan Hospitals; as a private nurse and Lakeshore Lutheran Home. Following retirement, Lois volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital, Reach to Recovery and Mt. Royal Pines. Lois was an early supporter of CHUM and helped start one of Duluth’s first Food Shelves.

Lois was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and Eastridge Community Church.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Olson; son, David Bersell Olson; parents;; brother, Donald Bersell and sisters, Eunice Ostrom, Lorraine Stream, Sarah Jane Erickson and spouses; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Bankson and her husband.

She is survived by three daughters, Karin Olson (Brian Mason), Denise (Larry) Nord, and Carloyn Olson (Tim Kaiser); six grandchildren, Peter Martin (Jeanie Tse), Alex Mason, Heather Nord, Michael Nord, Alden Kaiser and Zane Kaiser; one great-grandchild, Leif Tse Martin; many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

VISITATION: Saturday, March 26th from 10:00 -11:00 am followed by the CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11:00 am in Eastridge Community Church, 3773 West Arrowhead Road, Duluth.
