Lorraine (Norton) Campbell, 83, of Duluth, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 17, 2011 at Park River Estate Care Center in Coon Rapids.

Lorraine was born in Ely, MN on January 27, 1928 to Emil and Ida (Maki) Jacobson. She lived in the towns of Embarrass, Britt and Virginia before moving to Duluth as an adult. She met Lester Norton and they were married in 1946. They eventually settled in the Fond du Lac area of Duluth to raise their family. Lester passed away in 1974 and Lorraine married Lyle Campbell in 1976. Together they would beat the cold of Duluth and winter in San Diego. Lyle passed away in 2010. Lorraine enjoyed, jig-saw puzzles, canning and feeding the birds and animals that frequented her yard. She was passionate about growing flowers and gardening. She would often times get a head start on spring by growing seedlings in her windowsill. She looked after the park near her house and considered it an honor to raise the American flag every day. She was later honored for this by the mayor of Duluth and the DAR. Lorraine was a sweet woman who would do anything for anyone. She had a strong faith and was very much devoted to the Lord.

She is preceded in death by two husbands, Lester and Lyle; parents, Emil and Ida; son, Keith in 1987; twin brother, Wesley; brothers, Ernie, Norman, Rodney, Allen and infant brother, Robert.

February 23, 2011

The Greysolon Daughters of Liberty Chapter of the DAR expresses condolences to the family of Lorraine Campbell. We were always grateful for her faithfulness in raising the American flag daily at the John Jacob Astor Park, which was on land owned by the DAR. Her patriotism was appreciated. She was a treasure.

My condolences to Lorraine's entire family, she was a wonderful kind woman. I have known Lorraine since I was in the 2nd grade and I used to go over to the house to play with Keith, I still have fond memories of Keith & I playing hide and seek with Lorraine, and her making us lunch. Since Keith passed we stayed in touch with yearly unscheduled visits to her house, where we reminisced about Keith and talked about what was going on in her life. Somewhere along the way Lorraine stopped just being Keith's mom, and started being me friend as well. I was sad to learn of her passing, but only for a little while, because when I started to think of the wonderful reunion she was having with Keith, and the other family that went before her, it made me smile. Rest in peace Lorraine. Your friend, Mike
