Lorraine was born in Ely, MN on January 27, 1928 to Emil and Ida (Maki) Jacobson. She lived in the towns of Embarrass, Britt and Virginia before moving to Duluth as an adult. She met Lester Norton and they were married in 1946. They eventually settled in the Fond du Lac area of Duluth to raise their family. Lester passed away in 1974 and Lorraine married Lyle Campbell in 1976. Together they would beat the cold of Duluth and winter in San Diego. Lyle passed away in 2010.
Lorraine enjoyed, jig-saw puzzles, canning and feeding the birds and animals that frequented her yard. She was passionate about growing flowers and gardening. She would often times get a head start on spring by growing seedlings in her windowsill. She looked after the park near her house and considered it an honor to raise the American flag every day. She was later honored for this by the mayor of Duluth and the DAR. Lorraine was a sweet woman who would do anything for anyone. She had a strong faith and was very much devoted to the Lord.
She is preceded in death by two husbands, Lester and Lyle; parents, Emil and Ida; son, Keith in 1987; twin brother, Wesley; brothers, Ernie, Norman, Rodney, Allen and infant brother, Robert.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Dale (Carol) Norton of Coon Rapids, MN, Shirley (Don) Jukich of Diamond Springs, CA and Marilyn (Mark) Pierce of Lino Lakes, MN; step-children, Gail (Ernie) Smock of Kinney, MN, Darlene (special friend, Gary Potter) Cronin, Dale (Cathy) Campbell both of Superior, WI; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clarence Jacobson of Tacoma, WA and Donald Jacobson of Virginia, MN; 2 sisters May Aubol of Cloquet, MN and LaVerne Pohlman of Virginia, MN as well as many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home 601 N. 56th Ave. W. and again one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home 601 N. 56th Ave. W. with Rev. Gene Harmon presiding. Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery.
