

She was born in Midway Township on December 16, 1915 to Andrew and Tilda Johnson. She was an Esko High School graduate and went on to attend Young and Hirsch Business School. Mabel was a very active woman and hard worker. She raised three children and was known as the “let me show you,” lady! She was employed at Miller’s Cafeteria and later as a bookkeeper with various area businesses including Northwestern Bank of Commerce, Pioneer Bank, S & S Auto Parts, and eventually retired from Sears Roebuck. After retirement, she continued working as Site Manager of Morgan Park Senior Center. For over 60 years, Mabel was a faithful member of Elim Lutheran Church, member of WELCA, the Sarah Circle and active in the Wedding Ring and Fellowship Club. She was also a member of the West Duluth Women’s Club. Mabel’s talents were unending; she was well known for her jam and bread making skills, a gifted quilter and gardener.
Mabel is preceded in death by her husbands, John E. Kiheri, Sr., Henry Lessard; four brothers, Walter, Art, Bill, and John; two sisters, Lily and Myrtle Tweith; great-granddaughter, Megan Monson; and son-in-law, Larry C. Lundberg.
She is survived by her children, Maureen( the late Larry) Lundberg, Diane (Dennis) Monson all of Duluth and John (Bev) Kiheri of Albertville, MN; eight Grandchildren, David (fiancé, Christine Leone), Derrick (Michelle) Monson, Kristi (Kyle) Streitmatter, DeeDee (Josh) Elleson, Teri LeFaive, Daniel Monson, Michelle (Nathan) Martin, and Michael LeFaive; and seven great-grandchildren.
