
Marvis was born on August 22, 1920 in Willmar, Minnesota to Louis and Helen (Claussen) Henrickson. Her parents were born in Norway, and immigrated to Willmar, MN. She graduated from Willmar High School. She was married for 45 years to her loving husband, Earl L. Henton. She had an early career working at radio stations KWLM in Willmar, and WLOL in Minneapolis, stationed in the Foshay Tower. She moved to Duluth in 1956, raised her daughter Judy, and supported Earl’s work at KDAL TV, and civic duties in Duluth. Later she worked as an assistant to the Duluth Postmaster and in the Administrations Building at UMD. She was an active volunteer member of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church in Duluth, through her 92nd year. Marvis remained sharp up until the end, and especially enjoyed discussing politics. She was a caring, kind, thoughtful, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, dear friend, and neighbor.
Marvis is survived by: one daughter, Judy (Bill) Malmo, two grandchildren, Russ Cox (Kelsey Kennedy), and Katy Cox, two step-grandchildren, Nate (Amy) Malmo and Ben (Natasha) Malmo, all of the Twin Cities; two nephews, Kirk (Nancy) Henrickson, Bemidji, and Kim (Sherry) Henrickson, North Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother, Harold Henrickson.
Memorials preferred to Glen Avon Presbyterian Church or St. Ann’s Residence in Duluth.
A funeral service for Marvis will be held on Wednesday, September, 25, 2013 at 11 am at Glen Avon Presbyterian Church in Duluth with Rev. Robyn Weaver officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
