

Ray was born in Bayfield, WI, to Alphonse and Priscilla (Roman) Galazen. He grew up in Cornucopia, WI, and later married his high school sweetheart Carol Hultman. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War, retiring from the Army Reserves with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Ray had a 35-year career in personal finance and banking, retiring from Norwest as a department Vice President. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 71, serving as Post, District, and State Commander, and National Executive Committeeman.
He was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and supporter of St. James School. Ray was an avid collector and loved woodworking, spending many hours in his workshop.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, brother, Paul; sister-and brother-in-law, Everett and Linnea Johnson; and niece, Joyce Dax.
Ray is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Daniel (Char Thomas), David (Diana) and Kevin (Jeanne); daughters Karen (John) Gunderson, and Diane (Kevin) Tobin, all of Duluth; grandchildren Jen Gunderson (Sean O’Donnell), Sara (Craig) Gauntt, Marie (Matt) Kieckbusch, Erika (Desten), Holly, Rebekah, Ian, Cassandra, Samantha and Norah; great grandchildren Ray, Charlotte, Caroline and Stuart; sister-in-law Marilyn Galazen; nephews A.J. (Matt), Daryl, Travis, Eric Johnson (Janet), Earl, and niece Susan Petersen (Tim).
Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, November 14th at the Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601. N. 56th Ave. W. and from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, November 15th at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.
