

He was born February 10, 1919 in Perry, Ohio to Roy and Hilda Grant. Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during W.W. II. On January 14, 1949 he married the love of his life, Virginia Jane Berini.
Ray worked in the kitchen at Elliott Meats for over 33 years, retiring in 1982. Ray was an active, supportive member of First United Methodist Church and went on many missions helping to rebuild communities after disasters. Ray lived his Christian life through example. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity from the time he retired through 2004. Ray was also very active in the Duluth Heights Community, was a member of Lakeside A.A.R.P., and the First Methodist Bowling Team.
Ray was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Ellen Grant in 2003; his parents; four brothers and four sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Christine in 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Berini; children, Carolee Pearson, of Aurora, CO, David, of Duluth, Beth Frisco, of Harris, MN, Susan (Greg) Cleveland, of Grand Rapids, MI and Paul, of Duluth; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Everett, of Gales Ferry, CT and sister, Edith M. Grant, of Chardon, OH; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Skyline Parkway, Duluth, MN or Habitat for Humanities, 2002 W. Superior Street, Duluth, MN 55806. The family would like to thank the staff of Keystone Bluffs for the loving care given to Ray.
