He was born on October 21, 1935 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Marie and Richard Dowling.
Richard attended Denfeld High School and entered the military, serving in the Air Force, stationed in Duluth. He worked for Master Bread and Davidson Printing for over 33 years. He enjoyed old cars, antique clocks and radios, and going to coffee with “the guys.”
Richard married Patricia Gimberlin on April 1, 1977 in South Dakota.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter, Tanya Campbell; sister, JoAnn Burns; and three brother-in-laws.
Richard is survived by his wife, Pat of 35 years; son, James (Stephany) Dowling of White Bear Lake, MN; step-son Rick (Heather) Campbell of Black Diamond, WA; daughter, Brenda (Dan Bragee) Bourgeault of Duluth; sister; Bev Lougee of Duluth; sister-in-laws, Roberta and Jeanne of Morris, MN; brother-in-laws, Rick (Sue) Gimberlin of Morris, MN; and Donald (Barb) Timmsen of St. Paul; four grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at St. Luke’s Hospice, especially Marilyn, as well as Cathy from Home Health Care for the exceptional care given to Richard.
