Robert E Higby

Robert was born in January of 1933 in Ludden, North Dakota to Noble and Sigrid Higby.

He attended and graduated from Central High School in Duluth, 1951. Not long after graduation he enlisted in the Army and served four years during the Korean conflict. On March 28, 1953 Robert married Laurie Moen at Hope Lutheran Church in Munger, Minnesota. After his discharge from the Army Robert started work at the NERCC work farm and from there worked for the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer. He retired as the Chief Jailer of St. Louis County in 1987.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Laurie; parents, Noble and Sigrid Higby; brothers, Norman and Donald.

Robert is survived by son, Edwin (Kathy) of Minneapolis; daughters, Pamela (Robert) Bingaman of Duluth, and Sheila Mainella of Moose Lake; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., Duluth. Gathering of family and friends from 1 to 3 pm at the funeral home.
