

Roland grew up on a farm in Willow River and graduated from Willow River High School. He married the love of his life Mary Jane Armstrong June 24, 1944; they resided in Willow River until moving to Duluth in 1948.
He enjoyed camping, cross-country skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Roland was a strong man in his faith and he especially loved his family. Roland attended Duluth Bible Church.
Roland was very proud of the opportunity to work on3 WWII bomber planes that had four engines each; they were the Flying Fortress B-17, the Liberator B-24, and the Super Fortress B-29.
He was preceded in death by his son, David; step grand-daughter, Lisa Carmen; and sister, Doris Sundin.
Roland will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Jane; daughter, Marilyn K. Wickstrom of Duluth; grand-daughter, Heather Wickstrom of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service Friday, July 17, 2015 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., Duluth. Inurnment will be in Kerrick Cemetery.
