Veikko Nikolai Hautamaa

Veikko was born in Kortesjarvi, Finland on 2/14/1923. He served in the Finnish Army during the Finnish-Russian War from 1941-45. Veikko and his wife, Sirkka Hautamaa (Hilden), were married on 11/22/1947, they immigrated to the US in 1955, settling in Duluth. He worked as a carpenter. He and his wife owned numerous apartment buildings in Duluth. In his later years, he and Sirkka won many walking races in Duluth, demonstrating their "SISU" for life.

Veikko is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Debra Hautamaa of Castle Rock, Colorado and 3 grandchildren - Tyler, Stephanie and Olivia, and his sister, Hilja Nast of Duluth. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His love and sense of humor will be missed by all.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at Kenwood Lutheran Church 324 West Cleveland Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior. A private family burial at Park Hill Cemetery will follow where Veikko will be laid to rest beside his wife. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home 722-5131
