

Vera was born in Wrenshall, Minnesota on May 22, 1918 to John and Nina (Reed) Lanphier. After attending schools in the Wrenshall area she moved to Duluth. Vera worked for several area businesses including the paint factory and the Depot. On November 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Lester Hanson. After getting married Vera spent the next several years raising her family. Family was very important to Vera and she was always there for them. She enjoyed her Siamese cats “Pixie” and “Susie” and she loved to bake especially cakes. She also enjoyed feeding the wildlife that frequented her yard and the regular Sunday drives with Lester.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind and caring staff at the Silver Bay Veteran’s Home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester; grandchildren, Leslie and Wade Alan and one great-grandchild, Tyler.
Vera is survived by daughter, Roberta (Wayne) Prince of Duluth; grandchildren, Christy (John) Kilgore of Duluth, Vicki (Fred) DuPuis of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon (Pat Johnston) Mattsfield of Esko, MN, Jerri Ann Pike of Duluth, and Wayne John Prince of Duluth; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends.
A Visitation will be held from Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home 601 N. 56th Ave. W. with Pastor Dwight Solberg officiating.
