Virginia “Gina” Helen Abramson, 91, of Duluth passed away Sunday, January 08, 2012 in Canton, GA. Gina had survived two years of fighting cancer when she fell ill with pneumonia and passed peacefully with her family near. Gina was born September 10, 1920 in Duluth, MN. In 1941, she married John “Ernie” Abramson of Duluth, MN. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt she lived for her family. Gina was an avid bowler and golfer, being a long-time member of Ridgeview Country Club, and often traveled to various golf resort destinations with her husband. She gave much of her time over the years to Christ Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 40 years. She had recently moved to Georgia to be close to her son and daughter-in-law, granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Gina loved to read, knit, work on needlepoint or beadwork, and spend time with her family and friends. She was a beautiful and special lady who lived a full and happy life.
She was predeceased by her parents Odin and Gunda Strand, her husband of fifty years John E. Abramson, her son James Abramson, sisters Arlene Bragge and Orel White, and brother Norman “Bud” Strand.
Virginia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Kay Abramson of Woodstock, GA, son David Abramson of Saginaw, MN; granddaughters Kimberly Mauriello and Tara Pierce, both of Woodstock and their spouses; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Peyton, Jack, Ethan, Zachary, and Joshua; her sister Jean Johnson of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Christ Lutheran Church, Duluth. A visitation will precede the service beginning at 12:00 at the church. She will be laid to rest at Park Hill Cemetery in Woodland. Funeral arrangements are made by Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd of Duluth.
