William J. Welter

Bill was born October of 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to Peter and Gertrude Welter.

He attended and graduated from high school in Philadelphia and attended two years of college. Bill entered the Navy in October of 1945 and served as a Radio First Class until his discharge in 1961. On November 30, 1996 he married Gail Jasper at St. James Catholic Church in Duluth and together they lived in Duluth. Bill enjoyed golfing, bowling, bingo, puzzle books, and loved to cook. He was a member of American Legion Post #71.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ron and Bill Jr.; his parents; three sisters Elsie, Peggy, and Stella; two brothers, John and Edward.

Bill is survived by his wife, Gail; daughter Gloria Potts of California; four sons, Steven of Golden Valley, Arizona, Gary and Randy of California, and Greg of Duluth; step-son, Jon Jasper of Duluth; 15 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cat Billie Jo and his Red Lored Parrot, Pumpkin Patch.

Visitation: 10 am until the 11 am Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., Duluth, with Father Terence Figel officiating.
