Zona Mae Sheils

Zona was born on August 28, 1932 to Bert and Dora (Dahl) Hughes in Gonvick, MN. She moved to Duluth in her youth and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1950. A short time later in 1951, she was united in marriage to Carrol Sheils. Zona worked several jobs in the area and later as a bookkeeper for the family business. Zona enjoyed traveling with her husband to many places in the United States as well as Australia and Norway. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and later enjoyed knitting and taking canoe trips at the family cabin on Cadotte Lake. She was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Zona will be remembered for her love of family and adventurous spirit.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bert and brother, Leo.

Zona is survived by her husband, Carrol; sons, Larry (Bobbie) Sheils of Brimson, MN and Dale (Rita) Sheils of Trondhiem, Norway; daughter, Karen (John) Meshak of Waukegon, IL; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; mother, Dora of Cloquet; sisters, Donna (Glen) Kusick of Apache Junction, AZ and Betty Androtti of St. Paul, MN as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home 601 N. 56th Ave. W. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
