I am extremely sorry to find out so late after her passing. Aunt Betty was the favorite aunt of both my sister Yvonne Rowan and myself Emily Kathryn StClaire aka 'eddie'

Dear Cousins Brita and Jim and Bill and Sheila and families,

So sorry to hear of Aunt Betty's passing.  She was a special Aunt to me (as was Uncle Russ a special uncle).  I have incredibly fond memories of my visits to Chemainus in the summer time, learning to swim in the ocean, playing with the dolls in the upstairs "closet" and making mudpies outside under the stairs. Most of all feeling very welcome every time I visited.  Aunt Betty will be missed!

Dear Jim, Sheila and Brita and family,
My condolences to you for your loss. My Devan, Sandra and I were extremely honoured to have shared your Mom's friendship.  She is our mentor.  She showed us how to live a good and healthy life, be kind to others and much more.  I will always treasure my memories of Betty, including her smile and her sparkling eyes. Her sense of delight, humour and her grace are just some of the characteristics that make her special. We miss her very much.

On this Canada Day, we think of your mother and give thanks for her dedication to her community, church, and political ideals. To all of Betty's family, my heartfelt condolences on her loss and deep gratitude for her life.  That twinkling smile will live forever in my memory.  She provided inspiration for me when I first joined the NDP -- Chemainus was always the best organized corner of the constituency thanks to her efforts.  Her sense of humour and down-to-earth view of politics and the world never flagged.  She will be missed at the hymn sings, as she has been sorely missed at church lately, but that sparkling spirit of hers has affected us all at Chemainus United. Dear Brita & Bill, and Families, Our deepest Condolences on your loss of a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. Brita, we only met Elizabeth a couple of times when she visited in Victoria, But knowing You ,and your family and what you stand for, she would have had to be a great lady, for we live what we learn, and the standards would have been high from the beginning.
