Heather Gay Garnett (nee McDonald)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Heather. She passed away peacefully at Cairnsmore Place in Duncan,BC on December 23, 2025. We are grateful that her son Jeff was able to make the trip from Cranbook and spent the evening before and all of the day she passed with her, along with her other son Matt, husband Wally and 2 grandsons. Predeceased by her parents Ralph and Dolly McDonald, brother John and sister Karen. I’m sure they cooked one heck of a Christmas dinner up there this year. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Wally, sons Jeff (Angela), Matt (Roxanne), grandchildren Brody, Landon, Quinn and Finley and her nephews and nieces. A wife, mom, grandma, and aunt, Heather loved her family and was happiest when she was with them. Heather was an avid gardener, loved her animals (more than people lots of the time) and was a fantastic cook. You’d be hard pressed to find a better Yorkshire pudding or roasted potatoes, and her desserts were second to none. Christmas was probably Heather’s favourite time of the year. The decorating, baking and Christmas trees were always over the top. Christmas won’t be the same anymore. We would like to thank everyone for the calls and messages; it really does help to get through this difficult time. We would also like to thank the incredible staff at Cairnsmore Place for the exceptional care and love they gave Mom during her stay there. As well as Dr. Isabel Rimmer who guided us in her last days. We will forever be grateful for that. Rest in peace Mom, “Miss ya, Love ya, can hardly wait to see ya”

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on August 15, 2026 at 7245 Indian Road, Lake Cowichan, BC.
