Helen Margaret Walkey

April 8, 1919 – September 3, 2010

Passed away peacefully at Sunridge Place, Duncan, BC. Predeceased by her husband Cecil Walkey.

Margaret is survived by her son Don & Cathy Walkey, Daughter Lynda & Rolf Hansen, grandsons Donald Walkey, Dave & Robyn Walkey, great grandson Kayden Walkey, granddaughter Darlene Walkey.

Margaret’s parents emigrated from Norway, settled on a farm in Southern Alberta and raised twelve children. There are three surviving sisters, Nancy, Bernice and Mabel, and brother Bill Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret and Cecil moved to Duncan in 1955, and resided at what is now “The Quamichan Inn” where they raised their children.

One of her joys was the many trips to Kauai, Hawaii where she had many friends and she volunteered at the Wilcox Memorial Hospital gift shop.

She belonged to the Eastern Star for 57 years and was a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary for over 40 years, also she was an active member at the Duncan Legion. A special thank you from Margaret and her family to the staff of Sunridge, who took such loving care of her and Dr. William Reynolds her physician.
