Jean was born on July 28th 1920 at home on Doncaster Drive, Saanich B.C. to parents Samuel Oates Williams and Annie Jane Beckett.
Jean was strong and independent. A smart and deeply caring woman who lived her life to the fullest.
While working at the Victoria shipyards driving truck she met the man of her dreams, Robert William Owen. They wed on June 16th 1945. They joined to raise 2 wonderful daughters and had a full and happy life together.
Jean worked alongside her husband in running their business Bayview Woodworkers. Later on she became a successful business woman of her own, operating a Merle Norman Cosmetics in downtown Victoria.
When not running a successful business, Jean had a busy social life and enjoyed many activities such as gardening, golfing, painting, dancing, playing pool, and shuffleboard. She still had plenty of time to enjoy all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean lived a very long life, with most years in Victoria and her final years in Acacia Lodge in Shawnigan Lake.
Jean is predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob), her daughter Donna (Jim) Swanson, parents Sam and Annie Williams (Beckett), and four sisters, Ruby Blake, Pearl Malcahy, Joy Wedgewood and Connie Staverman.
Survived by daughter Karen Anderson, sister Pat Bligh, nephews Bruce and Dennis Harbour, seven grandchildren, Robert Swanson, Barry Swanson, Evelyn Jorgensen, Christine Douglas, Don (Brenda) Jorgensen, Bruce Jorgensen, and David (Susanne) Jorgensen, 15 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Acacia Lodge for their caring and kindness to Jean. Thank you also to the visitors who supported Jean later in life and to all the family who continue to support one another in her passing.
Jean will never be forgotten. She lives on in our hearts and memories, which we will all treasure forever. May she now be in the arms of her husband.
You will be truly missed.
There will be no service. At a later date the family will have a celebration of life and scatter her ashes with her husband's.
