The attached photo is Les in the early 1980's, Shilo Manitoba. He had a perfect complexation.

20 Oct 1984 - I visited a mutual friend Trish Beauregard in Angus, Ontario, a small town just outside of the Military base. To my surprise, Les Bootland was there too, visiting from Toronto. It seems that he was so hungry that he hitch-hiked there for a meal. Neither had changed all that much. Les’ hair was now red and he didn't have a ponytail anymore. I never laughed so much in my life, Les was telling us about his experiences in a gay bar in British Columbia.

Edward was a funny man. Someone who made you smile when he walked into a room. He was gentle, kind, but bold and courageous, and a well-liked person. Miss you and will keep you in my thoughts.



Since I somehow managed to get 2 entries on here in error (sorry) I will add a 3rd.  I'd like to thank Sue Thomson (Suki) for always (I mean always) being there for Les.  She was literally the most supportive friend a person could ever wish for and no matter whether it was good or bad Les could count on her.  I thank her for everything she did for Les over the decades, for wording a lovely obit and preparing this memorial for our friend (thank you as well to PAWS).

Leslie and I worked together at a drop in where is skill in listening and understanding others was appreciated. I will miss him. Rest in peace friend.

Les was one of my best friends.  We met one morning in a Ryerson fashion class where before a.m. coffee he yelled in my ear "Morning Sweet Gladiola!!!".  He was so funny and so darn talented. My years at Ryerson were amazing in large part due to Les.  After Uni we continued to be friends for many years.  I loved him very much and although later years were very hard on him I will never ever forget him or the many amazing (very funny) memories we shared.  Leon so sorry.

I was so sorry and saddened to hear of Leslie's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his parents and his brothers, Larry and Leon.  He was loved and will be missed.

All my greatest memories at the Elmwood included Edward.  He knew exactly how to make me smile and I have missed him since. May his soul rest in peace.  I love you Edward.

Edward it seems like just yesterday you left us.  Memories of you and your time here at the Elmwood will remain in our hearts forever.  Rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear about Leslie's passing. I really like him and have a very fond memory of spending a day with him in Toronto!
