Mary McFarland

February 2, 1931 - September 5, 2012

With sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Mary McFarland. Mary was passionate about gardening, her arts and crafts, Bingo games with friends from Silver Park and trips to the casinos with her friends and daughter. She is predeceased by her parents Rose and John and brother David Makarowski and husband Bob McFarland. She is survived by her best friend Gerhard (Gary) Scholtz, children Dennis (Janice), Sharon (Paul), Ray (Sheila), Randy, Darrell and grandchildren Leah, Ben (Corrinne), Sarah (Jason), Leif, Luke, Ramlah (Tim), Jessica (Dustin), six great grandchildren, sister Jeanette Gaydos, Lorraine (Ralph) Pritchett and family, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Mary and Bob spent many years in Tahsis where they raised their family. They loved boating, fishing and made many lasting friendships there. In the mid 70's they made Duncan their permanent home. After Bob's passing Mary found a true friendship in Gary, Lorraine and her family. We would like to thank them for all their love and support throughout the years. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at Cowichan District Hospital for their compassionate care. Instead of a service, an afternoon tea to visit with the family will be held on Friday, September 14th between 1 and 4 PM at the First Memorial Tea Room, 375 Brae Road, Duncan, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cairnsmore Place, 250 Cairnsmore Street, Duncan, B.C., V9L 4H2
