Mike leaves us with great sadness and heavy hearts after a brave fight with brain cancer.
He leaves his mom Marilyn Davidson, step-dad (Frank), Dad Jim Davidson, step-mom (Shawn). Step sisters Ariel, Leanne, Katie and Sarah. Step-brothers; Doug, Kevin, and Ryan. Aunts and Uncles; Sharon Nantes (Phil), Susan Dillabough (Don), Bill (Marg), Ross (Chris) Gord (Elsie) and John Davidson. Carol McNulty(M) Many cousins, closest being Pat Clee (Bob), his dearest Pam Wiersma (John and girls, Jessica, Emily and Erin). David Nantes (Pauline and son Kaleb). Many friends from being born and growing up in Duncan and from his work at Providence Farm and living at Marchmount House and his karaoke.
Mike loved people and knew how much he was loved. He was an extraordinary man with many talents, imitating voices and sounds, playing piano and singing. He swam, bowled, camped, tubed Mt Washington and travelled. He was the first rider at C.T.R.A. and was awarded a medal from the Lieutenant Governor Lamb at the opening of Providence Farm. His life was full and happy with his work at Providence Farm, at the free store, woodwork shop and office. Also much pleasure with jams and the arts sessions he attended for many years. Using his earnings for his trips to Mexico, to ride the locomotive train to Squamish, to the music museum in Seattle and a cruise to Alaska. He traveled to Barker Ville, Fort Langley and Disneyland in his school years. Mike’s favourite love was singing and playing and listening to music. Favourite songs being Stairway to Heaven, Candle in the Wind, and The Devil went Down to Georgia. The last song Mike Heard before his passing was True Love Ways by Buddy Holly. Mike was the King of Karaoke winning first prize on his cruise. Although Mike had many obstacles to tackle in life, he loved living. He’s earned his stairway to heaven to be with Grandpa Aitken. His sense of humour, with gentle ways and innocence will be greatly missed by all. Mike fought a fierce battle with cancer but never once complained.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s Memory may be made to The Clements Centre Society or Providence Farm.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at The Lodge on Moose Road, in Duncan on Saturday, March 29th, 2014 from 1 – 3:30pm, (2244 Moose Road).
