Peter Rich

September 25, 1925 - November 29, 2017

It is with sadness that Jay and Donna Smyth announce the passing of Peter Godfrey Rich, a neighbour and friend. He passed away peacefully at Cerwydden Place on Nov. 29, 2017. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Katherine Rich, and his brother Michael.

Never married, Peter was our neighbour for 25 years. A quiet, kind and gentle man, Peter was born in Toronto, and moved to Victoria with his family. He lived and worked in Toronto and Victoria, and had some interesting jobs, a lighthouse keeper on the west coast of BC, being one of them. At home he loved to tend to his dahlias, and had a couple of hobbies that were somewhat opposite in nature; one being his love of classical music, and the other his interest in weight lifting. Often, we could hear Beethoven or Brahms playing while he worked out in his extensively outfitted gym in his basement gym. We enjoyed the talks we had with Peter over the years, and will miss our conversations and his gentlemanly presence.

We would like to thank Dovehill staff for the kind care that Peter received, and most recently, the Cerwydden staff for the loving and kind care they provided Peter. Peter will be laid to rest with his family at Royal Oak Burial Park, Victoria.
