OBITUARY

Scott Menzies

September 28, 1954June 1, 2021

Scott Menzies, beloved son of Harvey and Bonnie (predeceased) died suddenly on June 1, 2021. Scott was a member of the clergy and enjoyed being sent to different locations. He has ministered in Ontario, Florida and Washington State. He decided to retire in Duncan BC in 2016 and loved the area.

Scott made many friends in life and was always willing to help and counsel others through his career as a Priest. His siblings will miss his stories and he will be missed by many of the people he befriended along his way. He had many good years in Sudbury, Ontario and enjoyed the fellowship of the Blue Saints Drum Corp.

His wishes were simple, he will be cremated and scattered in Maple Bay, BC.

Eternal rest grant unto him and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace.

Scott was a kind, thoughtful gentle person. With a wonderful sense of humour. I met him in my teens, as a member of The Blue Saints Drum Corps in Sudbury Ontario. Scott opened my eyes, to many things, including other religions. He invited me, a Catholic, to accompany him to a United church service and encouraged me to take a course in world religions at Laurentian university. He broadened my knowledge without being “preachy”! Imagine my surprise years later learning he went on to become a Catholic Priest! It shows he continued his learning, with an open curious mind. He comforted many, was a friend to more than we likely know. I remember fun with him on drum corps trips, playing board games at his house with other friends, celebrating milestone birthdays. Like many of his “old friends” I reconnected with Scott via Facebook when he was still living in the US. He hadn’t changed, and welcomed a renewed friendship with open arms. We were blessed to share our feelings and memories from long ago.
I hope his family feels some peace, knowing he is with Our Lord. My deepest sympathies on your loss.

Am so sorry for your loss! I am a long time friend of Scott’s from Blue Saint days! Even though I hadn’t seen him in years, we did keep in contact. Speaking for myself & a group of us here in Sudbury, we are all shocked at his sudden passing. He will be sadly missed! My condolences to all of you!

I am so sad to hear of Scott's passing. He was a good friend during our University of Victoria days and we re-connected a few years ago. He was so kind, had a great sense of humour and loved my pasta sauce! We had good times playing board games and he loved CLUE. I will miss his smile, his hugs and his loving heart.
