but my heart was not”
With the greatest sadness we announce the passing of our beloved son Theron Michael Keel. Theron left us on the morning of December 19, 2020 at the age of 22. Theron will be greatly missed by his parents Theresa and Michael Keel, Grandparents Sheila and Auke Elzinga and Nana Heather Keel, Aunts and Uncles Susan (Tom) , Kevin (Lyndsay), Andy (Lorna). Theron was very close to his cousins who were more like siblings to him, Gordie (Caity), Neila, Tyra, Haylee, Alicia, Skyla and Oakley. Predeceased by his Granddad Albert Keel, Great Grandparents Margaret and Watson Evans. Theron will also be missed by his extended family and many friends.
Although Theron’s time with us was short he lived it to the fullest. He was born in Duncan on September 23, 1998. Even as a young boy his smile, laughter and kind heart left an impression on everyone he met. He spent his younger years on his grandparents farm with his beloved Great Grandmother living next door. Theron enjoyed his time playing both hockey and lacrosse creating many lasting friendships. He also was involved in the 4-H beef club with great success. Most of his spare time was spent fishing, hunting or just enjoying the outdoors. Fishing was his true passion where he spent many hours on the lake, ocean or river with who ever he could entice to accompany him to his happy place.
Theron was a skilled meat cutter having started working at Duncan Butcher while still in high school. He took great pride in his trade and was always there to help friends and family clean fish and cut game.
In 2019 Theron spent a summer at Langara Lodge in the Haida Gwaii which was the highlight of his life, he had planned to return in 2020 but the lodge was closed due to covid-19.
Theron loved his family and friends and took great joy in spending time with them on the water or out in the bush 4x4ing. He would want to be remembered with a smile on his face, a fishing rod in his hand and a tale to tell.
The family of Theron would like to thank everyone who have helped us and continue to helps us through this difficult time with a special thank you the Jason, Kristina, Brad and Danielle. A celebration of Theron’s life will be announced at a future date.
