Son of Rene and Julia Weber, he was born November 10, 1941 in Birch Hills, SK. After graduating from high school, he moved to Saskatoon and began employment with the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. During his time at the Star Phoenix, his love of photography began to flourish, and he spent many wonderful years there working as a photographer as well as doing freelance work for many other media outlets. After some time, he made a transition to television and began working at CFQC where he was eventually named Director of Photography. Wilf had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and eventually left CFQC to pursue his own ventures. He went on to start many successful businesses throughout his life. This included, most significantly, Mini Mix Concrete, a small batch concrete construction company. He also was part owner of New Bridge Motors, owner of several different hotels, apartments and restaurants, and a coin operated candy machine and video game business, which he had installed all across the province. Later in life he took his financial planner certificate and began working as a Certified Financial Planner for Assante Wealth Management. This career took him into retirement, but this did not mean he stopped working. In retirement, he continued working odd jobs such as driving cars with Enterprise and teaching entrepreneurial classes to the Indigenous Women’s Entrepreneur Program. He loved the challenge of a new opportunity and worked tirelessly to ensure that every business he was involved with was successful and profitable.
He is survived by his wife Corinne of Lake Cowichan, BC; their children: Jason Weber of Saskatoon, SK and his wife Joanne and their children Wren and Berg; Ben Weber of Honeymoon Bay, BC and his wife Rhonda and their children Lennox and Willow; step daughter Kim Gage of Dallas, TX, husband Dennis and their children Alison, Kathryn and Jack; sister Sue Kreutzwieser of Saskatoon, SK and her husband Gordon; and his brother Roland Weber of Victoria, BC. and both of their families.
While we lost our most beloved husband and dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor, joke telling and witty timing to others, and even a glorious pain in the neck. Once you were marked important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him. Wilf loved spending time in the backyard and we have many wonderful memories of great times in the backyard pool with family and friends.
We invite you all to share pictures or memories. It was his wish that we laugh and reminisce and smile together during this time of mourning.
