After a 6-month battle with cancer, Wolfgang peacefully passed away on May 4th 2020 at his home in Duncan, BC. Wolfgang was predeceased by his wife Inge Werner, son Chris Werner and daughter Monika Piercy (nee Werner). He is survived by his son Andreas Werner; grandchildren Lisa Piercy, Russell Piercy (Tina), and Nikki Robbins (Marty); and great-grandchildren Kelsey Simmons, Kisandra Piercy-Pywell, Emma Piercy, Lynnea Piercy and Brayden Robbins.
For over 30 years Wolf worked at the Chemainus Saw Mill where he was valued and respected as a colleague and friend. He loved his family dearly and his grandchildren’s second home was his home. He loved woodwork, music, “America’s Got Talent” and basking in the sun. The way he touched so many lives is immeasurable. He accepted people for who there were and always welcomed others into his home. He taught us many life lessons while showing us joy and happiness in the simple things in life. He often would say, “sit back and drink tea because life will continue to happen”. Not afraid to call others out he often would say, “bullshit” and yet in a respectful loving manner. Throughout life’s challenges and greatest accomplishments his words of encouragement and love helped lead others to honesty and authenticity. We will never forget all that he has done for us.
Wolf will forever be missed. Our hearts are heavy and sad, but also humbled to have such a generous loving man to share our lives with. Thank you for everything, you will always be in our hearts. We know you rest in peace with family and for that we are grateful. Here’s to 98 times around the sun and a life lived fully with heart, acceptance, bravery and optimism. Hugs and love always from your family.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Wolfgang’s family and close friends will gather for a private celebration of life on Aug 22th, 2020, at 11:00 AM.
