On the afternoon of November 10, 2019, Gloria “Fil” Tolentino joined our Lord at the age of 66. Gloria was born to Jesus and Phoebe Bernabe in 1953 in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She was not only the “social butterfly” of the family but was also an incredible student that excelled academically. She received her bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines) in 1974 and successfully practiced nursing for 27 years as a clinical instructor, an assistant director in nursing, a pediatric nurse, and an oncology nurse.

She was an avid bargain hunter and loved to travel, but most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother and lola (grandmother). She sacrificed years away from her children when they were young to help provide greater opportunities for her family, being the catalyst that brought them to the United States.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Bernabe, and mother, Phoebe Bernabe. Gloria is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gerardo, her children, Ana and husband, Richard, Paolo and wife, Ally, Carlo and wife, Pamela, Isa and husband, Chance, her 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Gabriel, and Emilia, her 4 siblings, Wilfredo and wife, Frances, Olivia, Eleanor and husband, Raymundo, Jesus Jr. and wife, Judy, and nieces and nephews, Marvin, Mayumi, Michael, JoanMarie, Jeremy, Raymond, Elizabeth and Victoria.

A public memorial mass will be held at 11:00AM on November 15th, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, TX.

Fond Memories
Gloria (Fil) and I were Nrsg classmates, same section, almost bed neighbors at the UST dorm for 3 years. Spent 3 more months together after graduation with another classmate Chit Campus in San Jose, Nueva Ecija for the required/ mandatory Rural Area Services.....our last contact.
When they came to Duncanville —we got reconnected —destiny... My husband and I was able to visit her in their Duncanville home after she had her surgery—-even saw Ellen—-Fil’s sister.... I still remember the delicious baked salmon they served for dinner—-yummmmm.
When she was still working in Telemetry at Baylor Hospital, we tried several times to meet up for lunch but didn’t materialize ...and for the 2nd time I lost track of them again.... All the while I thought they moved to California...
And now for the 3rd time—lost her again....but I know where she is going......joining Our Creator —no more Pain....
My classmate and friend —-you will be missed but never forgotten...REST IN PEACE 🙏🙏🙏
Our prayers and deepest condolences to the family ...

I first met Gloria in third grade. She's always been in the honor list with Leonora and Lorna and she's an orator/declaimer. I remember her vibrant voice when I joined the class at San Jose west in grade three and Mrs. Villaroman the teacher told the whole class to welcome me and say, "we love you Roaldo," and her voice rose above everyone else in the room. 😊💞God. bless your soul classmate and friend.🙏🙏 See you on the other side. God is good and gracious🙏💞

I had the blessing to be able to watch this beautiful family love and care for their beautiful mother, Gloria. Sitting on the sidelines watching their servant spirits, continued commitment of love, and living life with Gloria being the center of their world. I came on scene after Gloria's health had begin to decline. The Tolentino Family has been a testament of God's unconditional love and servant hood. Gloria was surrounded by so much LOVE, I could only pray for such a gift from God. Gloria attended the weddings of three of her children and she attended ALL the Tolentino parties, if weather permitted, at the assistance of her precious husband Gerry and or her children and their spouses. The definition of LOVE was lived in the Tolentino home, I will forever be changed and blessed because of their love lived out in action for Gloria.

This is my greatest memory!
Love, Lola Dee
