

Jerald Lee Tracy was born September 9, 1935 at St. Vincent Hospital in Sherman, Texas to Sterling 'Buster' Tracy and Margaret 'Inez' Flowers Tracy. He was the first grandchild for both sides of the family. His brother, Sterling 'Edward', joined the family on September 13, 1936. They always celebrated their birthdays on September 11 with separate cakes.
Jerry attended schools in Denison & Sherman briefly attending schools in various places across the country while traveling with the family for work. He began an apprenticeship then joined the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 100 in April 1954 and remained a member until his death. He joined the United States Coast Guard in June 1954 and was discharged to the reserves in March 1958. After 4 years as high school sweethearts, he and Leona 'Carol' Hodge were married on June 5, 1955 in Denison's Central Church of Christ. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia they had their first child but their twin sons were born in Denison, Texas.
Jerry and Carol lived in Denison until 1969 moving to Duncanville in September of that year where they have resided ever since. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Duncanville, Crestview Baptist Church of Irving, Bethel Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, First Baptist Church Oak Cliff, and First Baptist Church Duncanville.
He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Lynn Tracy (Lee's twin) in 1960, his dad in June 1988, his brother in November 2004, his mother in September 2011, all of his aunts and uncles, and several cousins. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Tracy; daughter Leisa Carol Benson with husband Skip; son Jerald 'Lee' Tracy, Jr.; granddaughter Jamey Wallace, her husband Stuart and children Kirk, Aimee, Kaleb, & Savanna; grandson Layne Rogers, his wife Jennie and children Hannah, Emma, Micah, Jonah, Leah, Sarah, Nora, & Eliza; grandson Tony Benson, his wife Kelsey; grandson Michael Anaya, his wife Karen and sons Braden, Colton, & Zander; grandson Marcus Rogers, his fiancée Olivia and children Mason & Marley; granddaughter Sarah Grauberger and daughters Eliza & Kairi; granddaughter Jaymee, her husband Jeremy and sons Kasen, Kolby, & Jackson; and grandson Ian-Paul Benson; nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins.
