Lewis Anthony Vidmar 1937 - 2019

Lewis Anthony (Vic) Vidmar was born on January 8, 1937 in Elkhart, Indiana, the third child – second son – of Frank & Antoinette (nee: Soli) Vidmar. He was born again into the family of our Lord in January 1937, through the waters of Holy Baptism (Titus 3:5-7). He was confirmed in his faith in Christ in 1951.

As a young child, Vic grew up in Elkhart and attended Elkhart High School where he graduated from High School in 1955. He had various jobs during his youthful years but loved being a Golf Caddy for professional Golfers. He also had numerous jobs in different grocery stores. He was drafted into the Armed Forces of our nation in 1960 and served in the Army. He was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. While there he met his future wife, Charlene (nee) Walther. They were married on November 24, 1962 in Walburg Texas at Zion Lutheran Church.

In their marriage they were blessed with two daughters – Kelly, born March 22, 1967 and Kimberly, born November 9, 1971. Kimberly passed away at the young age of 26 due to cancer. They were further blessed by 2 grandchildren – Brittany Elizabeth (Riewe) Claus and Robert Dakota Kaufman.

Vic was raised in the Roman Catholic church but became of a member of the Lutheran church in January of 1973. Vic and Charlene were members of Grace Lutheran Church, Dallas, Texas for many years before becoming members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church DeSoto, Texas. When Messiah Lutheran mission church opened in Midlothian they moved their membership to Messiah and returned to membership of Cross of Christ Lutheran church when Messiah closed their door.

Vic worked in the mortgage industry in several cities of Texas and retired from his last job, with Fannie Mae, in January of 2002. He loved playing golf and telling stories.

Vic suffered a massive heart attack on July 29, 2019 followed by a severe stroke 5 days later. He was moved from Methodist hospital to Harbor Hospice Care where he passed away August 17, 2019.

He is survived by his: wife Charlene; daughter Kelly Vidmar and husband Jon Bell; brothers Frank Vidmar (Illinois) and Guy Vidmar (Indiana); numerous nieces and nephews in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Texas; grandchildren Brittany & Chris Claus, Robert Dakota Kaufman and fiancé Ashley Stephens and her daughter, Avery; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Alber & Adeline Walther; Barney & Dorothy Walther: Dannis & Wayne Roznovak; Arlee & Bob Mach.

Vic was preceded in death by: his daughter Kimberly; his father and mother (Frank & Antoinette); sister and her husband Pat and Delores Ritucci; father-in-law and mother-in-law Erwin & Laura Walther.]
