OBITUARY

Ms. Theora Mae (Anderson) Cook

March 8, 1943April 1, 2019

On March 8, 1943 Theophilus and Euelia Mae Anderson welcomed a beautiful baby girl. They named her Theora Mae, quite naturally, after her father and partially after her mother since she was their first daughter arriving after five boys had preceded her. She was the apple of their eye as she was lovingly referred to as “Sister” and the boys had to carry her around. On April 1, 2019, Theora as some called her “Sister” took her last breath and went home to be with the Lord from her daughter’s home in Longview, TX.

Theora was born and raised in Idabel, OK. She joined First Baptist Westside and was baptized there at an early age. She was married in the church. She attended Rocky Ford School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1961. After graduation, she enrolled at Wiley College in Marshall, TX. She would leave college to go to the big city of Dallas to pursue a career. She found her niche at Southwestern Bell, now known as AT&T, where she retired after over 30 years of service. She was a proud member of Calvary Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church family.

She raised her two children mostly as a single parent teaching them, nurturing them, and praying for them all along the way. Stephanie and Stephen were her precious loves.

On her journey she had some hills to climb as we all do and some heartaches, but rest assured she made it through holding onto God’s unchanging hand. She was preceded in death by her parents Theophilus & Euelia Anderson, a granddaughter Tiffany Joy Batiste, a sister Rosetta Manning, three brothers: Alfred “Tip “Anderson, Roosevelt Anderson, and Alonzo Anderson Sr.

The loving family she leaves behind include: daughter & son-in-law Stephanie Carol & Bobby Stoker, her son: Stephen Dickerson, precious grandchildren: Blake Jones ,Brittany Nicole Dickerson, Destiny Jones, Ashleigh Ne’Cole Murphy, Kelinda Jones, Leyden Marcel Dickerson, one fabulous great-grandchild: Ta’Liyah Jones, two brothers: Melvin Anderson (Ruby), James Anderson Sr. (Harline), and one sister: Margaret Taylor (Robert), wonderful nieces, nephews, magnificent cousins, and other caring relatives.

So, we say farewell for now #6 child. We will see you again. Rest in peace Sister, we love you.

TO THE ADULT CHILDREN (STEPHANIE & STEVE) OF THIS WOMAN OF GOD. I WATCHED AS YOU TOOK CARE OF YOUR MOM WHEN HER HEALTH STARTED TO DECLINE SHARING THE RESPONSIBILITY. YOU DID IT WITH AND OUT OF LOVE. MY GOD CONTINUE TO BE WITH YOU TWO AND YOUR FAMILIES. YOUR MOTHER WOULD NOT TAKE ANYTHING FOR HER JOURNEY BECAUSE TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY IS TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD.

To my Sister Stephanie . I can only remember 4 months ago when I went through the same thing and how much you supported us in our journey. I want you to know, we are here for you. You are an amazing individual and your mother raised a one of a kind. She was a wonderful person and just us always talking about her and the laughs we shared with you and her made me know that she lived a full life, and moreover, a life in which she was very loved. My prayers are with you and the family. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Much love to you and Mr. B and the family.
